AMURIA - total of seventeen individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at Amuria General Hospital following a motor accident involving a Nissan Bus owned by Gateway Bus company Vehicle, with registration number UAL 117Z, overturned on Saturday, 02/03/2024, at approximately 14:00 PM.

The incident occurred at Obuku cell, Amuria Town Council, along the Amuria-Kotido Road in Amuria district, documented under TAR 11/2024.

Preliminary investigations into the accident suggest that ongoing road maintenance activities on the Amuria-Kotido Road played a contributing factor. A culvert under repair, with soil piled onto it, caused the bus to skid off the road, resulting in its overturning.

SP Oscar Gregg Ageca, the Public Relations Officer of East Kyoga territory, confirmed the registration of 17 victims with various injuries. These individuals were promptly transported to Amuria General Hospital for urgent medical attention. Investigations into the accident are currently underway as authorities seek to establish further details surrounding the incident.
