Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, the Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, remains in a critical state, but he has not been officially declared dead. National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, released a statement to clarify the situation amidst widespread speculation.
"According to the doctors, Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad is brain dead, and most of his organs have shut down, but he has not yet been declared dead," Bobi Wine stated via his X handle. The clarification came after Ssegirinya’s mother, devastated by the grim prognosis, prematurely announced his passing.
Ssegirinya has been battling severe health issues for an extended period. Following his detention on politically charged allegations in 2021, his health deteriorated significantly. Despite seeking medical treatment in Germany, the Netherlands, and Kenya, his condition has worsened over time. Currently admitted to Lubaga Hospital in Kampala, he is under constant medical concern.
The announcement of his critical condition has drawn widespread attention, with Ugandans across the country expressing concern and solidarity. Supporters have taken to social media, offering prayers and messages of encouragement for a miracle recovery.
Known for his relentless advocacy for the people of Kawempe North, Ssegirinya has been a vocal proponent of grassroots development and social justice. His dedication to his constituents has earned him admiration and respect across the political spectrum.
As Ssegirinya's condition remains grave, Bobi Wine emphasized the need for collective hope. "Our teams are on the ground monitoring the situation as we all pray for a miracle," he said.
The coming days are expected to be crucial for Ssegirinya’s recovery. While the prognosis remains dire, the outpouring of love and support from Ugandans reflects the profound impact he has had on his community and the nation at large.
