SOROTI - In a heartfelt preparation for the upcoming Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams, scheduled to begin on 14th October 2024, Senior Four students at Jeressar High School gathered for a solemn prayer session. The event was led by the school chaplain, with teachers, students, and members of the Board of Governors in attendance. The focus was to seek divine guidance, strength, and wisdom as the students approach this significant milestone in their academic lives.

The school’s Chairman of the Board of Governors, Lawrence Oyamatum, delivered an inspiring message to the students. He emphasized the power of faith, hard work, and resilience, acknowledging that the exam period often brings feelings of fear and nervousness. “Parents have played their part, and teachers have done theirs. This is now the final stretch,” Oyamatum said. “Do not panic; have confidence in yourselves. You are fully equipped to face these exams. Let fear be a thing of the past.”

The prayers, which lasted from 07:00 am till 04:00 pm, were a long-standing tradition at the school, according to Head Teacher Asekenye Bertha. She highlighted the significance of the day, stating, "We have always done this, and it has consistently brought us success. Our goal is for students to remove fear and trust in God for good health and mental strength, ensuring no sickness interferes with their exams. We believe our students will pass with flying colors."

Reverend Moses Eliabu, Secretary to the Board, added a spiritual dimension to the day, reminding the students of the importance of dedicating their efforts to God. “In everything, we must remember that God is the beginning and the end. Today, we ask for His favor as the students prepare for their exams,” Eliabu shared.

Students were equally positive, expressing their readiness and gratitude. Acam Patience, one of the Senior Four candidates, said, "I’m personally prepared for the exams, and I’m grateful for the guidance we’ve received from our teachers."

Meanwhile, Alou Jennifer echoed this sentiment, noting, "Our teachers have prepared us well, and after today’s prayers, we’re ready to go."

Sharon Alungat confidently declared, "Even right now, I feel ready to sit for those papers. We’ve been well-equipped with knowledge and guidance from our teachers." Similarly, Aurumo Denis reflected on the journey from Senior One to now, affirming, "We’ve come a long way, and today’s prayers only solidify our preparedness for the exams."

As the UCE exams draw near, Jeressar High School students, teachers, and the Board of Governors remain hopeful and united, placing their trust in hard work and faith for a successful outcome.
