Ngora– As the world marks International Women’s Day, Ngora County MP Juliet Achayo Lodou has issued a powerful message urging for accelerated efforts toward gender equality.
In her statement, MP Achayo celebrated women as a "unique creation of God" whose contributions are central to the development of families, communities, and the nation. She commended the women of Ngora and the entire Teso region for their resilience, passion, and determination, emphasizing that "the world would be incomplete without you."
However, beyond the celebrations, she stressed that Women's Day is also a reminder of the ongoing struggles women face. Despite their invaluable contributions, women still experience gender-based violence and discrimination, which she called on society to urgently address.
"We need to take swift and more decisive steps to achieve gender equality," she said, calling for increased momentum in dismantling systemic barriers and biases that hinder women’s progress in both personal and professional spheres.
MP Achayo also recognized the strides made under the NRM government, citing affirmative action policies that have elevated women into politics, governance, and leadership roles—opportunities that were once unimaginable.
"The struggle for women's equality should not be left to women activists or organizations alone. It should be a collective effort by all who care about human rights," she asserted, rallying everyone to contribute toward a more inclusive society.
She concluded with a strong call to action, reminding Ugandans that "An Equal World is an Enabled World."
