SERERE: The Serere district NRM party structures have been urged to find a place in their hearts to forgive and support the NRM flag bearer Philip Oucor a head of the by-elections scheduled to take place on February 23, 2023.

Rose Mary Sseninde the NRM party director for mobilization together with Emmanuel Dombo the NRM Director of Communication while in a meeting with the Serere district NRM structures at in Serere district headquarters yesterday 21st,January,2023 called for peace and unity between the structures and the party flag bearer.

In her speech, Sseninde appealed to the leaders to support the NRM candidate whom she believes will come back reformed urging the members to stop fights amongst themselves as it will create room for the opposition to take the seat and not the NRM party.

‘’We are all human beings and each of us has a problem, our flag bearer may have annoyed some people, I beg of you to forgive him’’, she said.

She also added that there is still a problem within the members even if the NRM party comes to campaign for the flag bearer.

The structures declined the advice blaming the flag bearer for working with the opposition as he works with the former FDC strongman in his campaign team and promising to win the elections even without the support of the party structures.

They also added that the 2020 NRM party primaries were not free and fair.

‘’We the leaders of the party will not accept to be intimidated and won’t support Oucor as we already have a candidate and our stand won’t change’ ’Amos Ochom the NRM vice chairperson for Olio sub county who spoke on the behalf of the chairpersons said.

He also added that they are ready to mobilize support for the lates’ son Omoding Emmanuel as a sign of solidarity and rebuilding of the party in Serere.

‘’We have a problem in NRM, first of all our members are here quarrelling against one another, our structure leaders need to be trained on leadership skills as they need to have in order to respect the party’’, he added.
