Soroti City West Division offices have resorted to operating under trees following the demolition of their dilapidated office building, which is currently undergoing renovation.

The development was confirmed by Enomu John, Mayor of Soroti City West Division, who said the old structure was dismantled to pave the way for the renovation works.

According to Mayor Enomu, the construction is now approximately 95 percent complete and is expected to address the challenges currently faced by division officials.

He said the renovation project is estimated to cost more than Shs100 million, describing the ongoing works as an important investment in improving the working environment for both staff and residents seeking services.

However, in the meantime, several division offices have been forced to operate in difficult conditions, with officials using trees as temporary offices.

Mayor Enomu said his office and that of the Division Town Clerk are among those currently operating under the trees.

He expressed optimism that the situation would soon be resolved once the renovation works are completed and the offices are ready for occupation.

The temporary arrangement has raised concerns about the working environment and service delivery, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
