The music scene in Teso is facing a fresh management controversy following reports that singer Emmy Max has parted ways with Flame Management, only weeks after signing a reported three-year management contract.

The reported split has sparked conversations among music fans and industry players, particularly over the financial investment said to have been made in the singer's career and the future of projects developed during his time under the management.

The development follows an audio circulating online in which a man believed to be a director of Flame Management discusses Emmy Max's reported departure, the circumstances surrounding the management arrangement and the money allegedly invested in the singer.

According to the speaker in the audio, Emmy Max's management agreement with Flame Management was for three years.

The director said the management had intended to spend heavily on developing Emmy Max into a recognizable music brand in Teso, with an investment reportedly exceeding UGX 30 million.

He said the plan included providing the singer with clothing and other necessities to improve his image, as well as positioning him for better-paying bookings.

The director said the long-term vision was for Emmy Max to use his music career as a business and eventually acquire assets such as a car and a house.

“Music is business if you understand business,” the director said in the audio.

The reported departure has raised questions about what happened to the three-year agreement and whether it was formally terminated.

The Flame Management director claimed that he received information from Shishi, who was identified as part of Emmy Max's management team, that the singer was packing his belongings and leaving an apartment allegedly rented for him by the management.

He said he instructed the team not to force Emmy Max to remain under the management and instead allowed him to make his own decision.

However, he said he expected the financial issues arising from the reported departure to be addressed.

The director claimed that he had personally spent about UGX 14 million on Emmy Max and wanted the money refunded following the reported split.

He said the money was needed to help clear payments for people who had been working with the singer, including a driver, DJ and Shishi.

Despite raising the issue of a possible refund, the director said he was not interested in immediately pursuing legal action against the singer.

He explained that he did not want a legal dispute to negatively affect Emmy Max's career.

The director said his relationship with Emmy Max began at a birthday celebration where the singer had been booked to perform.

He claimed that his team requested UGX 900,000 for the performance, which he paid.

After watching the singer perform, he said he approached Emmy Max and asked whether he had management.

According to the director, Emmy Max said he did not have a manager, prompting him to offer to manage him.

He said that before returning to Nairobi, he instructed members of his team to begin the process of formally working with the singer.

The director also explained that the name “Flame Management” came after he began managing Emmy Max, rather than being an established management company that had originally signed the singer.

The Flame Management director claimed that the team had invested substantially in Emmy Max's branding and music projects.

Among the songs he mentioned were “Ataluka,” “Erot” and “Idiope Otomon.”

It should also be noted that Flame Management spent millions of shillings on the production of the “Ataluka” music video.

According to the director, the three-year agreement has implications for projects developed during the management period, although the exact contractual provisions regarding ownership and use of the music have not been made public.

The director was also asked about Stephen Elwangu, popularly known as Presido, and whether he had played a role in connecting Emmy Max to another manager.

He claimed, however, that he had received information that Presido was coordinating a meeting at a hotel where discussions involving Emmy Max allegedly took place. These claims have not been independently verified.

Emmy Max had previously been associated with Sava Entertainment, although it was not legally finalized.

He said Flame Management later took over the singer's management.

The circumstances surrounding Emmy Max's previous and current management arrangements remain unclear without the relevant contracts or statements from all parties involved.

As the story continues to generate discussion in Teso's music circles, questions remain over whether Emmy Max has formally terminated the reported three-year contract, whether he has signed with another management team and what contractual obligations may remain.

At the time of publication, Emmy Max had not publicly responded to the claims contained in the circulating audio, and the alleged three-year contract had not been made publicly available for independent verification.

The reported dispute highlights broader questions about artist-management contracts, financial investment, branding, ownership of music and the importance of clearly defined termination clauses in Uganda's growing music industry.

For now, the Flame Management–Emmy Max saga remains one of the latest developments keeping Teso's entertainment scene talking.

More details are expected to emerge as the parties involved make further statements and additional information about the reported three-year contract and the circumstances surrounding the split becomes available.

This story remains developing, and further updates will be shared as more information comes to light.
