His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng III, the Paramount Chief of the Iteso, together with Her Royal Majesty Toto Akaliait Juliet Among Atomeileng, have safely returned to Uganda following a week-long visit to Australia marked by cultural engagements and interactions with members of the African community.
The royal couple landed at Entebbe International Airport at exactly 5:00 PM this evening after connecting through Doha, Qatar, in the United Arab Emirates, where they were warmly received by the Honourable Nicholas Owino, Member of Parliament for Tororo County North.
Their safe arrival was confirmed by the Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) Minister for Information, Stephen Ojacor, who described the visit as an important opportunity to advance the cultural identity, visibility and international relations of the Iteso people.
"I can confirm that our King, together with the Queen, have safely landed following their return from Australia, where they travelled for a series of cultural engagements. They connected through Doha Airport before arriving at Entebbe International Airport," Ojacor said.
He added that the royal couple's return would allow the Iteso Cultural Union to intensify preparations for the forthcoming fourth coronation anniversary of Emorimor, scheduled for October 29–31, 2026, in Amagoro, Kenya.
The Australian visit represents another opportunity for the Iteso cultural institution to strengthen its international presence and connect with communities beyond Uganda's borders.
Through engagements with African communities in Australia, Emorimor continues to demonstrate the importance of cultural leadership in bringing people together, preserving shared heritage and maintaining connections between communities living abroad and their ancestral homes.
For the Iteso, whose communities are spread across Uganda and Kenya and whose members continue to establish themselves in different parts of the world, such engagements provide an opportunity to reinforce cultural identity and promote unity across geographical boundaries.
The participation of Toto Akaliait Juliet Among Atomeileng alongside the Paramount Chief also underscores the complementary role of cultural leadership in promoting the Iteso heritage and strengthening relationships with communities at home and abroad.
Beyond ceremonial appearances, international cultural engagements offer opportunities to exchange ideas, encourage cultural cooperation and inspire younger generations to appreciate their traditions while embracing opportunities in an increasingly interconnected world.
With the royal couple now back in the country, attention is expected to shift towards the final preparations for the fourth coronation anniversary, one of the major events on the Iteso Cultural Union's calendar.
The three-day celebration, scheduled for October 29–31 at Amagoro in Kenya, is expected to bring together cultural leaders, government representatives, political leaders, development partners and members of the Iteso community from Uganda, Kenya and the diaspora.
The anniversary will provide an opportunity for the Iteso community to reflect on the achievements of Emorimor's leadership, celebrate their cultural heritage and renew their commitment to unity and development.
It will also offer a platform to strengthen cross-border relationships between the Iteso communities of Uganda and Kenya, whose shared cultural identity remains an important foundation for cooperation.
Emorimor's return comes at a crucial time as the cultural institution prepares to welcome guests and coordinate activities surrounding the anniversary.
The Iteso Cultural Union is expected to continue mobilising communities and stakeholders to ensure the celebrations reflect the dignity, heritage and aspirations of the Iteso people.
As preparations enter their final phase, the successful conclusion of the Australian visit adds another chapter to Emorimor's continuing cultural engagements.
His return, alongside the Queen, now places the royal leadership back at the centre of preparations for an anniversary that will bring together the Iteso community to celebrate its heritage, honour its leadership and look towards a shared future.
The countdown to Amagoro has officially entered its final phase.
