SOROTI- Patrick Anoku, a member of the Forum for Democratic Party (FDC) in Soroti City West, has announced his intention to contest for the MP seat in Soroti City West, aiming to usher in change. He has sharply criticized the leadership of Jonathan Ebwalu, the current MP, likening it to a comedy of errors.
Anoku's remarks come in response to Ebwalu's recent actions, notably his endorsement of an NRM candidate during the by-elections in Soroti City East, despite claiming allegiance to the FDC. Anoku voiced his concerns during a media address held this afternoon at Amen Guest House in Soroti City.
Furthermore, Anoku challenged Ebwalu's claim of credit for the Agora Seed School, emphasizing that it is a government initiative mandated for all sub-counties, rather than a personal achievement.
In his critique, Anoku lamented the lack of recognition for the contributions of local councilors and accused Ebwalu of appropriating communal efforts as his own. He stressed the importance of unity, peace, and strategic development for Soroti City West, highlighting the absence of a master plan as a hindrance to progress.
When questioned about his stance on factionalism within the FDC, Anoku emphasized Soroti's commitment to its longstanding principles and expressed willingness to welcome back those who may have strayed from the party's core values.
Anoku concluded by underscoring the need for trustworthy leadership, particularly in light of potential threats posed by the discovery of oil in Soroti. He pledged to abide by the party's decisions, even in the event of defeat in the primaries, reaffirming his dedication to the collective vision of a revitalized Soroti City West.
