GULU CITY -A 13-year-old female pupil, a South Sudanese national, has been apprehended by local authorities in Gulu city over the tragic murder of her 14-year-old compatriot and fellow pupil, Tracy Nyatrich, at their nursery and primary school.
Reports indicate that a dispute between the two pupils during a water collection activity turned fatal when the accused allegedly strangled Nyatrich in a moment of rage. Despite efforts to revive her, Nyatrich was pronounced dead upon arrival at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga conveyed condolences to Nyatrich's family, friends, and schoolmates, while confirming the detention of the accused, who faces charges for her alleged violent actions.
Enanga emphasized the severity of the alleged crime, urging for increased vigilance and supervision in school environments to prevent such tragic incidents and ensure the safety of all pupils.
