The family of the late Nollywood actor, John Okafor, has officially announced the date for his burial.
Before his passing, Mr. Ibu underwent the amputation of his leg following a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness.
However, the actor's family has revealed that he will be laid to rest in his hometown of Amuri, situated in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
In a statement jointly signed by Ibu's brother, Elder Sunday Okafor, it was expressed that the deceased would be honored in a manner befitting a hero.
"The Okafor family in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West LGA in Enugu State wishes to pay tribute to the loving memory of our hero and legend, John Ikechukwu Okafor, who, even in death, has left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness.
"We extend our invitation to your esteemed presence as we bid farewell to our son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and in-law on the 28th of June 2024.
"Please join us as we cherish and share our fondest memories with our beloved icon," the statement conveyed.
According to the statement, the burial proceedings will commence on Tuesday, June 25th, with a high-profile novelty match. This will be followed by "Mr. Ibu's Night" on Wednesday, June 26th, which will feature a candlelight procession and live entertainment.
On June 27th, a Christian Wake will be conducted at his residence in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West, leading up to the funeral service on June 28th.
The 5-day commemorative event will conclude on Sunday, June 30th, with a Church Thanksgiving service for family, friends, and well-wishers.
