The Gen-Z anti-corruption protests in Kampala have taken an unexpected turn, with demonstrators adopting a new tactic: nudity.

Today, a group of nude protestors was arrested by security operatives near the Parliament building, causing a significant disruption in the area.

The protestors, who were demonstrating against corruption in Parliament, stripped off their clothes as a form of protest, immediately drawing attention from passers-by and security personnel.

The protest, reportedly planned in advance, involved participants marching toward Parliament while holding placards with various inscriptions.

Some of the messages demanded accountability from the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) concerning the recent tragedy at the Kiteezi landfill.

Security operatives quickly intervened to contain the situation, arresting the protestors and transporting them to an undisclosed location.

Human rights lawyer Eron Kiiza said the nude protesters "show how naked" corruption and the corrupt are in Uganda.

"Will the government led by Kaguta Museveni finally see and address (dress) the corruption?" he asked in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Mr Kiiza said the Police "should look for the corrupt instead of gazing at the naked young women".

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident, and the identities of the protestors have not been disclosed.

The demonstration briefly interrupted traffic and caused a commotion in the area, but normalcy was restored shortly after the arrests.

The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with opinions divided over the effectiveness and appropriateness of such forms of protest.

The protestors are expected to face charges, though it remains unclear what specific legal actions will be taken against them.
