KAMPALA - The burial of Hon. Onapito Ekomoloit, former Member of Parliament for Amuria County and Presidential Press Secretary, has been scheduled for Saturday, November 30th, 2024, following a two-month preparation period. This extended timeline will allow for the construction of a special tomb, honoring the late Onapito’s final wishes.
The National Organizing Committee (NOC), which is overseeing the funeral arrangements, is chaired by Prof. Francis Omaswa and deputized by Hon. Capt. Mike Mukula and Hon. Mary Karoro Okurut. The Ugandan government has accorded an official funeral to Hon. Onapito, a fitting tribute to his immense contributions across various sectors, including politics, media, and business.
For the interim, the body of Hon. Onapito will be preserved at Mulago National Referral Hospital under professional care until all preparations for the funeral are finalized.
According to Hon. Ebwalu Jonathan, Chairperson of the Publicity Committee, the extended burial period is in line with the late Onapito’s wishes for a proper resting place to be constructed. The family, in consultation with the NOC, has agreed to these arrangements, ensuring that his memory is honored with the dignity and respect he deserves.
