The Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Jessica Alupo, has reaffirmed Cabinet's unwavering commitment to disciplined leadership, accountability, and zero tolerance to corruption during the ongoing Ministers' Induction Retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi.
Addressing Ministers and Permanent Secretaries gathered for the ten-day induction programme, Vice President Alupo expressed gratitude to His Excellency the President for the trust placed in her and the entire Cabinet, pledging that Government would not squander that confidence.
"The people of Uganda placed their trust in this Cabinet, and it is our sacred duty to honour that trust through disciplined, accountable, and transparent governance," Vice President Alupo said. "We are committed to ensuring that every programme, every directive, and every initiative is implemented with the utmost integrity and efficiency."
The Vice President congratulated the President on successfully constituting Cabinet and highlighted key national milestones, including the State of the Nation Address and the National Budget Speech, noting that they provide clear direction for Uganda's development agenda.
She emphasized that the induction programme is critical in equipping Ministers with the knowledge and skills required for effective service delivery, stressing that continuous learning remains essential in public leadership.
"Leadership in public service demands continuous growth and adaptation," H.E. Alupo stated. "This induction programme is designed to prepare our Ministers to deliver on the promises made to the Ugandan people."
The Vice President outlined Government's commitment to the National Development Plan and the 2026–2031 development framework, aimed at accelerating Uganda's transition to upper middle-income status and achieving sustainable economic growth.
She reiterated Government's stance on zero tolerance for corruption, inefficiency, and delays in implementation, noting that Cabinet is committed to ensuring timely delivery of programmes and Presidential directives.
"Corruption, delays, and inefficiency will not be tolerated," Vice President Alupo warned. "We will hold accountable anyone who undermines our development agenda or betrays the public trust."
Among the priority areas highlighted were agro-industrialisation, tourism development, science, technology and innovation, as well as value addition, export promotion, and import substitution.
The Vice President also reaffirmed Government's commitment to flagship programmes including the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, the Women's Fund, and Youth Livelihood initiatives, which aim to strengthen financial inclusion and household income generation.
"These programmes are transforming lives across Uganda," she noted. "They represent our commitment to inclusive growth and poverty eradication."
Vice President Alupo called for unity and collective responsibility within Cabinet to ensure effective implementation of Government priorities for the transformation of Uganda.
The ten-day induction retreat brings together newly appointed Ministers and Permanent Secretaries for comprehensive briefings on governance protocols, national development priorities, and service delivery frameworks.
