SOROTI - Centenary Bank's Soroti branch has today made a significant contribution to the ongoing construction of St. Peter’s Cathedral in Soroti City, continuing its legacy of community support. The bank, widely recognized for its commitment to social responsibility, donated 76 bags of cement to aid the diocese in building the iconic cathedral.

Rashid Musisi-Ssamanda, Chief Manager of Corporate and SME at Centenary Bank, along with bank staff, personally delivered the donation and reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to uplifting communities across Uganda. “As a bank, we are answering the diocese’s call to help rebuild the cathedral. We are proud to donate 76 bags of cement toward this important cause,” Musisi-Ssamanda remarked during the event.

He emphasized that Centenary Bank has a deep-rooted tradition of giving back. “Each year, we allocate 2% of our net worth from the previous year under our corporate social responsibility programs. While today we’re supporting the church, our contributions go much further, impacting communities nationwide,” he explained.

Musisi-Ssamanda also reiterated the bank’s inclusive nature, ensuring that its services are accessible to everyone, irrespective of background. “Centenary Bank is for everyone. We don’t discriminate based on religion, race, or any other factor. Our goal is to serve all Ugandans, and we urge the public to continue supporting us so we can give even more back to the community,” he said.

He further highlighted the bank’s innovative digital services, making banking more convenient than ever before. “We’ve brought Centenary Bank directly to your mobile phone. With just one visit to our branch, we’ll map you onto our mobile platform, enabling you to conduct transactions from anywhere—whether in your bedroom, sitting room, or even in the garden,” Musisi-Ssamanda added.

Reverend Emmanuel Elianu, the priest at St. Peter’s Cathedral, expressed deep gratitude for the bank’s generosity. “We are sincerely thankful to Centenary Bank for their generous donation of 76 bags of cement. This contribution will significantly aid in the completion of our cathedral,” Reverend Elianu said.

In addition to the donation, Reverend Elianu announced that St. Peter’s Cathedral is now an official agent for Centenary Bank in Soroti, allowing community members to perform deposits and other banking transactions directly at the cathedral.

"Centenary Bank's continuous dedication to fostering positive relationships with the communities it serves showcases its role as more than just a financial institution—it is a partner in the nation's development", Some of the Christians who spoke to this website said.
