KAMPALA - Lubaga Hospital has officially confirmed the death of Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, the Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, putting to rest social media speculation that had flooded various platforms earlier in the day.
According to the official statement released by the hospital, Hon. Ssegirinya passed away on Thursday, 9th January 2025, at 12:10 pm, after receiving extensive medical care from the hospital's dedicated team. Despite all efforts to ensure his recovery, the honorable legislator succumbed to his health challenges.
Hon. Ssegirinya had been admitted to Lubaga Hospital prior to his passing.
The hospital expressed its condolences to the Parliament of Uganda, the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Members of Parliament, his family, and the constituents of Kawempe North, where Hon. Ssegirinya had served passionately and with great commitment.
"We join the nation in mourning a dedicated servant of the people. May his soul rest in eternal peace," the statement read.
The news comes after hours of unverified reports about his death circulated on social media, leaving many Ugandans confused and seeking official confirmation. Lubaga Hospital's announcement provides clarity and solemnly marks the loss of a figure who was deeply loved and respected by his community.
