Soroti City – Renowned Soroti City-based lawyer, Joshua Okello, has praised Hon. Dr. Flight Captain Mike Mukula for his unwavering dedication to transforming Uganda's political landscape.

Speaking to the media today in Soroti, Okello highlighted Mukula's exemplary leadership qualities and urged delegates of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to support his candidacy for the position of NRM Vice Chairman for the Eastern Region, a role currently held by Mukula himself.

Okello painted a compelling picture of Mukula, emphasizing his commitment to fostering development, integrity, and progress within Uganda. He commended Mukula for his proactive approach to leadership, showcasing initiatives that have positively impacted local communities. Notable among these are the establishment of an aviation school and a radio station, both of which provide significant employment opportunities for youth and contribute to the media sector's growth.

"Hon. Dr. Flight Captain Mike Mukula is a responsible leader who offers actionable feedback and consistently provides support to those in need," said Okello. "His impact on communities is evident through tangible projects, which promote education, create jobs, and demonstrate his commitment to improving the lives of Ugandans."

In addition to praising Mukula’s practical contributions, Okello also recognized the leadership qualities that set him apart. He noted Mukula’s ability to motivate and inspire, particularly his approach to rewarding hard work and addressing underperformance. "He recognizes progress publicly, but criticizes poor performance privately. This tactful approach motivates individuals to improve without undermining them," Okello added.

Okello went on to highlight Mukula's calm demeanor, which he described as a rare quality among leaders. "He doesn’t make decisions impulsively or base them on one favored option. He remains calm in the face of chaos and never responds to bad behavior with similar conduct," Okello remarked. "His ability to remain level-headed in difficult situations is a testament to his exceptional character and leadership."

As the NRM prepares for its internal elections, Okello called on delegates to support Mukula should he choose to run for a second term as NRM Vice Chairman for the Eastern Region. He emphasized the importance of making informed choices in the upcoming elections, urging voters to consider the contributions and track record of candidates.

"Voting is not just a right; it is a civic duty," Okello said. "Beyond personal interests, voters must prioritize what best serves society as a whole. We must look at party policies and the leadership track record of candidates. Hon. Dr. Mike Mukula’s extensive experience within the NRM makes him a strong contender for the role."

Okello further praised Mukula's ability to navigate complex political landscapes without succumbing to pressure, describing him as a unifying figure within both the NRM and the wider Ugandan society. "His calmness and resilience in the face of adversity make him a leader we can all trust. He understands the importance of listening to all sides before making decisions," Okello stated.

As the 2026 election period draws nearer, Okello urged NRM delegates and voters to recognize Mukula’s significant contributions to the party and the country at large. He encouraged them to support Mukula’s candidacy, emphasizing that his hands-on approach to leadership and commitment to sustainable development is exactly what Uganda needs.

"Let us support Hon. Dr. Mike Mukula to continue his transformative work in the NRM and Uganda as a whole," Okello concluded. "The NRM’s future is in the hands of those who make responsible, informed, and considered voting decisions."

As discussions around the NRM leadership intensify, Okello’s endorsement of Mukula as a capable and committed leader underscores the importance of forward-thinking leadership for Uganda's progress.
