Soroti City - Isaac Orego, the Member of Parliament (MP) aspirant for Soroti City East Division, has outlined his vision for a more prosperous and inclusive future, emphasizing wealth creation and women’s empowerment during his recent visit to Opiyai B, Orongat Village.

During his engagement with the local Christian community at St. Peter’s Church of Uganda, Orego focused on the crucial role women play in economic growth and the development of their families. His address underscored the importance of equipping families with the knowledge and tools for wealth creation, particularly through the empowerment of women.

"Women do a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure their families thrive, and they are key to any sustainable development. It is essential to empower them in ways that promote both financial independence and societal growth," Orego stated. He praised the vital contributions women make in household planning and management, emphasizing that their efforts often go unnoticed.

The aspirant highlighted the need for women to receive more recognition and opportunities for economic independence. "Empowering women is not just about gender equality; it's about recognizing their contribution to the economy and giving them the tools to succeed in all sectors of society," he added.

Orego also commended the government’s initiatives to increase women’s participation in various fields, but he pledged to do more. He assured the community of his full support for projects aimed at providing women with more opportunities for growth, financial stability, and independence.

Joseph Epuru, Chairman of Planning and Construction at St. Peter’s Church of Uganda, expressed his appreciation for Orego’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Epuru emphasized that empowering women strengthens the entire community, particularly the church, where women play a central role in both spiritual and social life.

“When women are empowered, the entire community thrives, and the church becomes stronger. They are the pillars of our society, and their contribution to the church’s mission cannot be underestimated,” Epuru remarked.

Orego’s emphasis on wealth creation and women’s empowerment forms the backbone of his vision for Soroti City East Division. His platform advocates for sustainable development, gender equality, and social equity, with a special focus on ensuring that women have access to resources and opportunities that will enable them to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.

As the election season approaches, Orego’s message resonated strongly with the locals, many of whom expressed support for his policies. His candidacy represents a hope for positive change in Soroti City East, where residents are looking for a leader who can foster both economic growth and social inclusion.
