KAMPALA — The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has confirmed that Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, will be sworn in tomorrow at 12:00 noon in her chambers.

This follows the official communication from the Electoral Commission (EC) and the publication of the gazetted election results, legally affirming Nalukoola’s victory. The gazette serves as the final legal document confirming the election outcome, allowing him to officially assume office.

Announcing the development on X (formerly Twitter), Speaker Among stated:

"I have received official communication from the @UgandaEC along with a copy of the gazetted results. I will proceed to swear in the Member of Parliament-elect for Kawempe North in my chambers tomorrow at 12:00 noon. I would like to congratulate Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi on his victory."

Nalukoola, a candidate of the National Unity Platform (NUP), won the March 13, 2025, by-election with 17,764 votes. His closest rival, Faridah Nambi of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), received 8,593 votes. The by-election was held to fill the seat left vacant after the passing of former MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.

The election process faced challenges, including disruptions during the nomination period and allegations of electoral malpractices. However, with the EC’s confirmation and the subsequent gazetting of the results, Nalukoola’s win is now official.

With the swearing-in set for tomorrow, Nalukoola is expected to officially take his seat in Parliament, where he will represent and advocate for the people of Kawempe North.
