Hon. Orone Derrick, the Member of Parliament for Gogonyo Constituency, has launched the Gogonyo Constituency Examination Bureau, a landmark initiative aimed at improving academic performance and raising education standards across the constituency.
The examination bureau is expected to strengthen the assessment of learners, monitor academic progress, and provide schools with data-driven strategies to improve performance. Speaking at the launch, Hon. Orone said education remains one of the key pillars of community development and pledged to continue supporting initiatives that enhance learning outcomes for children in Gogonyo.
"As leaders, we have a responsibility to invest in education because it is the foundation of our community's future," Hon. Orone said, noting that the bureau will help schools identify areas requiring improvement and promote academic excellence.
In a move to improve teachers' welfare, the legislator also contributed UGX 10 million towards the establishment of the Gogonyo County Primary Teachers SACCO. He encouraged teachers to embrace the savings and credit cooperative as a platform for financial empowerment, enabling them to access affordable credit, build savings, and improve their livelihoods.
Hon. Orone further advised teachers to develop a constitution that will guide the SACCO's operations and ensure accountability, transparency, and effective governance. He assured members that his support would not stop with the initial contribution, promising additional assistance once the SACCO is formally organized and operating under a clear constitutional framework.
Education stakeholders and teachers welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that addresses both academic performance and teachers' economic well-being. They expressed optimism that the examination bureau would promote healthy competition among schools, improve learner outcomes, and strengthen the quality of education across Gogonyo Constituency.
The launch marks a significant step in Hon. Orone Derrick's efforts to promote quality education and teacher empowerment, reinforcing his commitment to creating an environment where both learners and educators can thrive.
