SOROTI – Hariet Anyimo, the aspirant for Dakabela County, has made a significant contribution aimed at uplifting local economies by donating tools worth UGX 75 million.

The donation, which was presented during a community empowerment outreach event held at the Katine Sub-county headquarters in Soroti district, is expected to provide crucial support for local entrepreneurs and help foster sustainable economic growth.

The donation consists of a wide range of tools and equipment tailored to empower residents of Dakabela County, including sewing machines, spraying pumps, welding machines, toolboxes, hair dryers, grinding machines, and brick-making machines, among others designed to equip community members with the means to start and grow small businesses, generate income, and ultimately reduce poverty levels.

In her address, Hariet Anyimo emphasized the importance of giving people the tools to shape their own futures. She noted that, while promises are common in the lead-up to elections, her focus is on tangible support that can create long-lasting change.

“I believe that true leadership is about action,” Anyimo said. “It’s about empowering people so they can stand on their own feet. This donation is just the beginning of my commitment to improving the livelihoods of Dakabela residents.”

The event, attended by a large crowd of residents and political leaders, was a clear reflection of Anyimo’s hands-on approach to leadership. Many in attendance noted that the donation would provide invaluable resources for individuals, especially youth and women, to break free from the cycle of poverty.

“Hariet is not just another politician making empty promises, we beleive this support will impact change in the community and beleive that she will do more,” said some residents of Dakabela County.

The donation is particularly significant for a district that has faced economic challenges, with many families struggling to secure stable incomes. For many, the new tools offer an opportunity to create sustainable businesses in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and services.

The donation ceremony was presided over by Hajjati Hadijja Namyalo, head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC). Namyalo applauded Anyimo for her forward-thinking approach to leadership, emphasizing the aspirant’s focus on direct empowerment rather than relying solely on political rhetoric.

She also appreciated the support donated to ensure that the people of Dakabela county get empowered as her office didn't have enough funding following some state activities ongoing.

“This is the kind of leadership we need,” Namyalo said. “Hariet Anyimo is already making a difference before even assuming office. Her focus on community empowerment is an example for others to follow.”

As Dakabela County gears up for the 2026 elections, Anyimo’s focus on practical change is resonating strongly with residents. Many voters are rallying behind her vision of a county where local businesses thrive and families can depend on sustainable incomes rather than handouts.

Local leaders, including Soroti District RDC Paul Eseru and Soroti City Assistant RCC John Omoding Eupa, also attended the event and expressed their support towards initiative. Eseru acknowledged the positive impact that the donation would have on the community, calling it a "step in the right direction."

As the election season approaches, Hariet Anyimo continues to build momentum with her focus on empowering the people of Dakabela. Her recent contribution is seen as a clear indication of the kind of leader she aspires to be - one that prioritizes the needs of the people and works tirelessly to create an environment where individuals have the opportunity to thrive.
