Soroti City, Uganda — The father of Joan Faith Apio, the pupil who was brutally murdered at Jozan Nursery and Primary School in Soroti City, has reported ongoing threats from unknown individuals allegedly seeking the location of his daughter's grave.

Oluma John Opolot raised his concerns during a court session today presided over by Grade One Magistrate Apollo Kasujja Kibirige, held virtually via Zoom. The accused persons in the murder case also appeared before the court through the virtual platform.

Speaking to the media outside the courtroom, Oluma revealed that unknown individuals have made four separate attempts to locate the grave of his late daughter. He claimed these people are also targeting him personally.

"On Easter Monday, I saw a man carrying a long black bag that I suspect may have contained a firearm," Oluma stated. "They have been coming day and night. We don’t get any rest. These people are still searching for the grave."

He recounted a harrowing incident in which the intruders came to his home at night, stole a goat, and allegedly intended to lure him outside to harm him. "They thought I was inside the house and used the goat to get me to come out," he said. "I was hiding around the home to guard the grave."

Oluma added that he had reported the matter to the Akore Police Station under reference SD Ref: 09/26/2025. He presented the police documentation to the court as evidence of the threats he is facing.

Magistrate Kibirige adjourned the case to May 14, 2025, for further mention. He informed those present that the court is still waiting on the prosecution to confirm whether they have sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.

The tragic murder of Joan Faith Apio has drawn widespread attention and raised questions about security in schools and the protection of victims' families.
