Soroti District – In a generous act of community support, Skyladder has donated 50 bags of cement to aid the construction of a priest’s house at Amoroto Anglican Church in Awaliwal Sub County, Soroti District.

The donation was secured through the efforts of Peter Ebau, the LC3 Chairperson of Awaliwal Sub County, who successfully lobbied the company after hearing concerns from local church leaders. Ebau revealed that the church initially planned to request one bag of cement from each of its eight daughter churches. However, Skyladder's significant contribution has greatly reduced the burden on the congregations.

“This donation is not only a big relief but also a gesture of appreciation to the church, which supported me during some of my most difficult moments,” Ebau said. He commended Skyladder for responding promptly to the call for support.

The need for a new priest’s house became urgent when Rev. Samuel Egau, who assumed his role as parish priest in early February, found the existing house too small to accommodate his needs. He immediately initiated plans to expand the residence to better serve the parish.

With the donation of 50 bags of cement, the church is now able to proceed with construction. Rev. Egau noted that the congregation is committed to providing the remaining essential materials such as iron sheets, bricks, and sand.

“We are deeply grateful for the support we’ve received,” said Rev. Egau. “Our goal is to complete the priest’s house before Bishop Kosea Odongo’s scheduled visit in September.”

Stephen Esele, Chairperson of Christians at Amoroto Church of Uganda, also extended his thanks to Peter Ebau and Skyladder, calling on well-wishers to join in supporting the project. He emphasized the importance of collective effort in achieving their construction goals.

Members of the congregation expressed joy and enthusiasm upon receiving the cement donation, which they see as a major step forward. Their excitement reflects a strong sense of community commitment and appreciation for the support that has set the foundation for completing the priest’s residence.
