Soroti City: In a show of community solidarity and faith-driven leadership, Isaac Orego, an aspirant for the Soroti City East Division parliamentary seat under the NRM ticket, has donated cement to support the ongoing construction of St. Philip Catholic Church in Opiro Ward.
The donation, made in cash equivalent to ten bags of cement, was presented during a recent fundraising event organized by the church. The gesture has been widely appreciated by church leaders and congregants, who described it as timely and impactful.
Etapu David, an instrumentalist at the church, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the church community. “The support we have received from Mr. Orego will enable us to make meaningful progress on the construction of our church building. We thank him sincerely for standing with us,” he said.
Agnes Emau, a lay reader at the church, acknowledged the challenges the parish faces due to low attendance and limited resources. She emphasized the significance of Orego’s contribution. “Though our numbers are small and contributions limited, this donation will greatly elevate our efforts. We truly thank Mr. Orego for his generosity,” she noted.
Speaking at the event, Isaac Orego reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the church and broader community development. “Leadership is about service, and true service starts with honoring God and supporting His work. I will continue to stand with the church in every way I can,” he stated.
Orego further called on Christians in the area to support his parliamentary bid and to keep him in their prayers as the election period approaches.
The donation not only marks a practical contribution to the church’s infrastructure but also reflects Orego’s growing engagement with the faith community in Soroti City East.
