SOROTI DISTRICT — It was a momentous day for the residents of Ongurio village and Achuna parish in Tubur Sub-county as they united in a show of solidarity and political clarity during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) mainstream elections.
In a strong display of community support, Bob Owiny was elected unopposed as the Secretary for Publicity of the NRM Mainstream for Ongurio village. His uncontested victory reflected widespread recognition of his grassroots influence, dedication to party values, and ability to mobilize community support.
But Owiny's political milestone didn’t end there.
In a second uncontested election, he was also declared Vice Chairperson of the NRM Mainstream for Achuna parish, a significant elevation that underlines the trust and confidence the community has in his leadership.
Speaking after the elections, David Agwanyi, the district councilor for Asuret Sub-county, extended his congratulations to Owiny, commending him for his commitment to the NRM and applauding his tireless mobilization efforts. Agwanyi emphasized that Bob’s election is a clear testament to his deep-rooted connections and his consistent engagement with the people.
“The people of Achuna parish have spoken clearly. Bob’s leadership is grounded in service, and his mobilization for the party has been unmatched,” said Agwanyi.
Residents of Ongurio and Achuna parish described Bob as a servant leader with a clear vision to transform the community. Many expressed hope that his rise in party leadership will signal a new era of development and improved governance at the grassroots level.
“We see Bob as the leader who can liberate us from ineffective leadership. He listens, he acts, and he represents us well,” said one resident during a celebratory gathering.
As Owiny assumes these key leadership roles, expectations are high that he will champion development initiatives, promote inclusivity, and strengthen NRM structures at the local level.
His election, devoid of opposition, reflects a rare political consensus in the region - one rooted not in slogans, but in action, connection, and trust.
