Soroti City – In a spirited show of unity and commitment to community transformation, ward chairpersons under the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Soroti City convened for a landmark grassroots mobilization drive aimed at reinforcing the party’s presence and connection with the people at the local level.

The strategic meeting, held at the NUP regional offices, brought together key party figures and grassroots leaders to deliberate on strengthening mobilization frameworks and building a more responsive and engaged political structure.

Chairing the meeting, George William Okoit, NUP’s Soroti City Chairperson, emphasized the vital role ward chairpersons play in advancing the party’s mission. He lauded the dedication of local leaders and underscored their position as the backbone of NUP's growing popularity and organizational strength in the region.

“The future of our movement lies in the hands of grassroots leaders,” Okoit stated. “When ward chairpersons mobilize effectively, they awaken communities and breathe life into our vision for a just and inclusive Uganda.”

The gathering served not only as a platform to share experiences and mobilization strategies but also as a moment of reflection on the party’s grassroots achievements and the challenges that lie ahead. Discussions focused on community engagement, youth participation, civic education, and strengthening local networks to ensure NUP’s message resonates across all sectors of society.

Okoit called upon all party structures—from the executive to ward-level leaders—to continue promoting teamwork, unity, and transparency in their political work. He urged them to view their leadership as a collective responsibility to serve, educate, and empower citizens.

“We must keep our eyes on the bigger picture: building a people-led movement that delivers real change. Our unity and consistent outreach efforts will define our success,” he added.

The chairpersons unanimously pledged to intensify their mobilization efforts, extend outreach activities, and foster stronger bonds with community members. Their united stand marks a significant step toward consolidating NUP’s influence in Soroti City and positioning the party as a credible alternative in future political contests.
