In a significant political shift, Okiria Ali, a supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP) from Kanyumu County, has announced his departure from the party to join the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

This decision comes after Okiria expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of support and engagement he experienced as a member of NUP.

During his announcement, Okiria emphasized that throughout his time supporting NUP, he had never had the opportunity to meet the party president.

Furthermore, Okiria revealed that the pressure from his community played a significant role in his decision to switch allegiances. He noted that constituents had criticized him for his association with NUP, urging him to reconsider his political alignment. Ultimately, these factors culminated in his decision to join NRM, where he believes he can better serve his community and gain the political support necessary for his endeavors.
