The political landscape of Kapelebyong County is heating up as Francis Ajum, a 33-year-old Soroti-based lawyer, officially picked interest forms from the NRM Electoral Commission offices in Kampala city.
Ajum is set to challenge the incumbent Member of Parliament, Anthony Esenu, in the upcoming 2026 general elections, marking a significant moment in the constituency's political trajectory.
Mobilization for Change
Immediately after acquiring his nomination forms, Ajum launched into mobilizing support from constituents back in Kapelebyong, evidencing his commitment to an active campaign.
His supporters have affectionately dubbed him the “Netanyahu of Kapelebyong,” a nod to his vocal leadership style and strategic political approach.
In his own words, Ajum emphasized the need for transformation:
“It’s time for visible representation. Kapelebyong deserves an active voice both in Parliament and on the ground.”
