Amuria District – As Muslims across the globe prepare to mark Eid al-Adha, believers in Orungo County and Amuria District are being encouraged to embrace the holiday with a spirit of love, unity, and generosity.

The celebration, one of the most important on the Islamic calendar, commemorates the profound faith and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim. It is a time when Muslims reflect on the values of obedience, compassion, and sharing—especially with the less fortunate.

In Orungo County, Teddy Anyuk Osire, a parliamentary aspirant for the 2026 elections, joined the local Muslim community in extending warm wishes for Eid al-Adha. She lauded the Muslim faithful for their consistent demonstration of generosity, kindness, and inclusiveness, particularly during religious festivities.

“Eid al-Adha is not just a Muslim celebration; it’s a moment that reminds us all—regardless of our faith—about the power of sacrifice, love, and community,” said Anyuk. “Muslims have always been welcoming, and their spirit of giving during this period is a beautiful example of what it means to live harmoniously.”

Anyuk further revealed her plans to celebrate the holiday with Muslims in Orungo County, hinting at a special gesture aimed at bringing joy to the community. Her move has been well received, with local Muslim leaders expressing appreciation for her outreach and recognition.

“Many times, politicians forget us during such moments, but Teddy Anyuk has shown that she values and respects our traditions,” said Hajj Musa Isabirye, a community elder. “Her thoughtfulness means a lot to us.”

During Eid al-Adha, it is customary for Muslims to slaughter animals and distribute the meat among family, friends, and the needy—including non-Muslims. In Amuria and across Uganda, this act of sharing reinforces interfaith unity and compassion.

As thousands gather in mosques and homes to pray and celebrate, the message from leaders remains clear: let this Eid al-Adha be marked not only by tradition but by renewed commitment to unity, love, and peaceful coexistence.

“May this Eid bring blessings to every home,” Anyuk concluded, “and may we continue to walk together as one community.”
