Benjamin Omalwa, popularly known as DJ Tumbo, has picked a nomination form to contest for the LCV councillor seat in Katakwi sub-county.
While picking the nomination form from the Katakwi District NRM offices at Angopet cell, Omalwa cited poor service delivery in the sub-county, particularly in healthcare, education, and road infrastructure, as the reason for his decision.
As a secondary school teacher, Omalwa believes that Katakwi sub-county needs a vibrant leader who can lobby for better services, most especially in improving education systems in the sub county.
He promises to empower families and improve their livelihoods if elected. Omalwa also plans to organize training sessions on mindset change and money management to address dependency issues in the sub-county.
"In my leadership, I have plans to empower families so that they can sustain their livelihoods," Omalwa said.
He added that the training sessions would focus on addressing the mindset challenges and poor money handling that contribute to dependency in the sub-county.
Omalwa called for peaceful election processes in Katakwi sub-county and district, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability during the electoral period.
However, according to the NRM District administrator, Joseph Okiror, the nomination form-picking exercise will end on June 15, 2025. The fees for each position are fully set. District LCV Chairperson: Shs 1,000,000, LCV Councillors: Shs 200,000, Sub-county/Town Council Chairperson: Shs 200,000, Sub-county/Town Council Councillor: Shs 20,000
With his nomination, Omalwa is set to join the race for the LCV councillor seat, promising to bring change and development to Katakwi sub-county. Only time will tell if his message will resonate with the voters.
