KATAKWI DISTRICT – Daniel Mulalu, the Private Secretary for Political Mobilization in the Office of the President and Executive Director of the Kazi Ni Kazi Foundation, has officially launched his bid to contest in the 2025 National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for Member of Parliament, Ngariam County in Katakwi District.

The campaign launch, held on Friday at Kololo Ward in Katakwi Town Council, attracted a vibrant crowd of supporters, including party leaders, youth representatives, elders, and members of the business community.

With the NRM primaries on the horizon, Mulalu used the occasion to unveil his comprehensive campaign agenda, emphasize development priorities for Ngariam, and call for a peaceful and inclusive electoral process.

“I am here today not to make promises, but to declare my commitment to a shared dream for a better Ngariam—a Ngariam where every child can go to school, every farmer can access markets, and every youth has a chance at employment,” Mulalu told the crowd, as chants of “Kazi Ni Kazi!” filled the air.

In his address, Mulalu pledged to champion a “people-centered leadership grounded in service, humility, and action.” He outlined five key pillars of his campaign: education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth and women empowerment, and agriculture.

Key development priorities include:

Education: Construction and rehabilitation of government-aided primary schools, lobbying for additional secondary schools, and expansion of bursary opportunities for vulnerable learners.

Health: Upgrading local health centers, securing essential drugs and maternal health equipment, and lobbying for a modern health facility in underserved areas.

Road Infrastructure: Advocacy for tarmacking major access roads, opening farm roads to support produce transportation, and improving feeder road maintenance.

Youth & Women Empowerment: Scaling up Kazi Ni Kazi Foundation’s vocational training programs, improving access to Emyooga and Parish Development Model (PDM) funds, and strengthening market linkages for youth-led enterprises.

Agriculture & Livelihoods: Promoting modern farming methods, establishing irrigation systems, and supporting farmers with quality inputs and technical training.

“This is not just a campaign—it is a mission to restore hope and dignity to our people,” Mulalu stated. “My focus is the everyday Ugandan—the farmer, the teacher, the mother, the boda rider.”

As political competition intensifies in Katakwi and across Uganda, Mulalu took a firm stand on the need for peaceful and non-violent elections.

“We must not allow elections to divide us. Ngariam belongs to all of us. Let’s compete with ideas—not fists or insults,” he urged.

Mulalu called on the Electoral Commission and security agencies to maintain neutrality and ensure a free and fair electoral process, adding, “Let us show the country that Ngariam can be a model for peaceful and mature politics.”

Deep Roots in Mobilization and Party Loyalty

Mulalu brings to the race over a decade of political mobilization experience. Since 2011, he has served on the NRM National Taskforce representing Teso and Karamoja sub-regions and played a pivotal role in national grassroots campaigns.

He revealed that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the NRM National Chairman, had officially accepted his resignation from State House duties, clearing the path for his full engagement in elective politics.

“I thank the President for the trust and mentorship. I have now answered the call of the people of Ngariam. I am ready,” he declared to loud applause.

Community Endorsements and Party Support

Several local leaders, youth activists, and women councilors voiced their support for Mulalu’s candidacy.

“He has always stood with us, even while serving at the national level. We trust him to lead Ngariam into a brighter future,” said Martha Atai, a youth leader from Palam Sub County.

NRM leaders present commended Mulalu for respecting party structures and demonstrating loyalty by running under the NRM flag.

Mulalu’s candidacy sets the stage for a highly anticipated political showdown. He is expected to face strong competition from the incumbent MP and Minister of State for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, and fellow State House staffer Augustine Otuko.

Political observers predict that the NRM primaries in Ngariam will be among the most hotly contested in the Teso sub-region.

Still, Mulalu remains confident in his grassroots support.

“I trust the people of Ngariam. They have seen my work. They know my heart. When the time comes, they will vote for progress—not empty promises,” he concluded.
