Soroti City came to a standstill today as hundreds of enthusiastic supporters poured into the streets to accompany Soroti City Woman MP Alobo Joan Achom and Soroti City West Division MP Jonathan Ebwalu for their nomination ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The vibrant procession began early in the morning as business owners, youth groups, and other well-wishers gathered in solidarity to escort the two incumbent legislators to the Forum for Democratic Party office in Soroti city.
The streets of Soroti City were filled with chants, music, and dances, with supporters donning campaign colors and waving placards in support of their candidates.
The event reached a high point as the crowd moved through the city center, eventually converging at MP Jonathan Ebwalu’s office, located in the Senior Quarters of Soroti City West Division. Both MPs addressed the crowd, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming turnout.
“We are truly humbled by your love and support. This show of unity today proves that Soroti is ready to move forward together,” said MP Alobo Joan Achom. She urged voters to grant her another term in Parliament to continue her service and development programs for women and youth in the city.
MP Jonathan Ebwalu echoed her sentiments, thanking supporters for what he called a “humbling and historic” day. “You have shown us that the work we have done over the years has not gone unnoticed. We are committed to even greater achievements if given another opportunity to serve in Parliament,” he stated.
The peaceful and colorful event concluded with both MPs reaffirming their commitment to transparency, development, and inclusive representation. With the nomination now complete, the two leaders begin their journey toward re-election as campaigns officially commence.
