Soroti City has officially bid farewell to its Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Mr. Peter Pex Paak, who has stepped down from his position to pursue elective politics. Paak is seeking to represent Dodoth East County in Kaabong District in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
A grand farewell ceremony was held at Hyde Park in Soroti, attracting a large and distinguished gathering of political leaders, religious figures, security officials, civil servants, and members of the public.
The event served as a tribute to Paak’s leadership and his contributions to the growth and stability of Soroti City during his tenure.
Mr. Paak, who took office in September 2021, resigned in accordance with Uganda’s constitutional requirement mandating public servants to vacate office before running for political positions.
Speaking on behalf of friends and well-wishers, Mr. Egunyu Girigori applauded Paak’s commitment and impact during his time in office.
“Peter Paak has been instrumental in promoting peace, order, and development in Soroti City,” Egunyu said. “We thank him for his service and encourage the people of Soroti to continue building on the foundation he laid.”
Soroti City Mayor, Joshua Edongu, who served as the chief guest at the event, also praised the outgoing RCC for his exemplary leadership and dedication.
“We are here to celebrate true leadership. There is no doubt about the support we have for him in his next journey because of the clean record he has maintained,” Edongu said.
