Serere District - Acom Esther Lucy has vowed to usher in a new era of leadership in Serere District following her official nomination as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate for the parliamentary seat currently held by Minister for Fisheries, Hon. Adoa Hellen.

Arriving from Agu, a border point between Serere and Ngora, Acom was welcomed by cheering crowds and jubilant supporters who lined the roads to celebrate her nomination. The warm reception underscored growing public interest in what is expected to be one of the most closely watched electoral contests in the district.

In a phone interview, Acom made her intentions clear: her campaign will challenge the status quo and push for a more inclusive, people-centered approach to governance.

“Our current leadership has gone astray. It’s no longer about serving the people—it’s about who you know,” she said. “I’m here to shake things up and make sure everyone gets a seat at the table.”

Acom emphasized that her leadership style will prioritize inclusivity, transparency, and equitable service delivery across all communities—especially those that have long felt sidelined.

“We’ll work together to ensure that every voice is heard and every village receives the services it deserves,” she added.

With her NRM nomination secured, Acom now faces off against Minister Adoa in what many see as a generational and ideological contest. She believes the time has come for Serere to transition from rhetoric to tangible development.

“It’s time for work, not words,” she declared. “We’ve lagged behind for too long. The people of Serere deserve better—and I’m ready to deliver.”

As the campaign trail heats up, political analysts and voters alike will be watching to see whether Acom's message of reform and unity can turn the tide in Serere’s political landscape.
