A wave of excitement swept through Kapelebyong District on Tuesday afternoon as thousands of residents turned out to welcome Adupo Florence in a colorful homecoming ceremony, following her official nomination to contest in the upcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries for Woman Member of Parliament.
The event, marked by cheers, traditional performances, and NRM colors, underscored the growing momentum behind Adupo’s candidacy. Adupo, who previously ran under the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) banner in the 2021 general elections and secured 7,472 votes, has now shifted political allegiance to the ruling NRM party, a move that has drawn widespread interest across the district.
Addressing the jubilant crowd, Adupo vowed to champion improved service delivery in the region, highlighting persistent challenges such as poor infrastructure, inadequate healthcare, and lack of access to clean water.
“Our district continues to suffer due to poor service delivery, lack of infrastructure, and neglect,” Adupo said. “I am here today to say: send me, and I will be the answer to Kapelebyong’s problems.”
She also confirmed that her nomination had been officially verified and approved by the NRM electoral commission. “All my papers have been considered. There’s nothing left to worry us. We are moving forward,” she assured supporters.
Many in the crowd, especially women and youth groups, voiced optimism in Adupo’s leadership, praising her community engagement and grassroots support.
As the NRM primaries draw near, Adupo’s return to the political stage is reshaping the district’s political landscape. Her message of change and development continues to resonate widely, particularly in underserved rural communities.
All eyes now turn to the NRM primaries, which will determine the flag bearer for the 2026 general elections in Kapelebyong.
