Anglican Bishop Kosea Odongo of the Church of Uganda Soroti Diocese has urged students to embrace hard work, discipline, and righteous living as the foundation for a successful future. Speaking during his pastoral visit to Soroti Secondary School, where he confirmed 68 students into the Anglican faith, Bishop Odongo reminded the young learners that the future belongs to those who are committed, determined, and morally upright.
"The future belongs to the hardworking," the Bishop emphasized. "If you are lazy, you will miss out. Aim higher, don’t give up,you never know, you might be the great future." He also cautioned students against engaging in reckless behavior, warning against irresponsible relationships that lead to teenage pregnancies and abandonment.
Bishop Odongo’s visit was marked by vibrant spiritual celebrations and reflection. He reminded the congregation that the Kingdom of God is not about material indulgence, but about righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. "Forgiveness and righteousness are at the core of true Christian living," he noted.
Samuel Enyutu, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors at Soroti Secondary School, commended the confirmed students for embracing the Christian faith and encouraged them to maintain that spiritual momentum. He urged them to translate life’s challenges into opportunities for growth and transformation. "We still have individuals who harbor abnormal beliefs, leading to a mismatch between their physical, spiritual, and academic lives," he cautioned.
Wilfred Oluka Okeriau, a headteacher of Soroti secondary school, expressed gratitude to Bishop Odongo for taking time to visit and spiritually guide the students. He encouraged the candidates to continue following the Christian teachings they received, and to live by the principles shared during the confirmation.
The event highlighted the Church’s continued commitment to nurturing spiritual values among students, helping them build a strong moral compass to navigate the complexities of modern life.
