The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) on Tuesday called upon a massive gathering at Kyarumba Play Ground in Kasese District to decisively "tick the key" that will represent the party on ballot papers during the upcoming January 14 general elections.

Speaking at the FDC manifesto launch this evening, party stalwart Nandala Mafabi implored the "sea of faces" to utilize their demographic strength responsibly to chart their own course towards wealth creation and a better future.

Mafabi sharply criticized the incumbent National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, stating that despite Kasese's fertile soils that promise high agricultural yields, residents continue to grapple with devastating floods, a dilapidated road network, and pervasive poverty. "This suffering should not persist after 40 years of NRM in power," he declared, emphasizing the urgent need for change.

Accompanied by several FDC leaders, Mafabi outlined key proposals for the mountainous Kasese region. Prominently, he promised the provision of cable cars to significantly ease the transportation of people and their agricultural produce to and from the numerous hills, addressing a long-standing logistical challenge for the community.

Mafabi also sought to forge a deeper personal connection with the electorate, reminding them of the cultural ties – specifically circumcision – and geographical affinity he shares, linking his home region of Mt. Elgon with Kasese's Rwenzori mountains. He asserted that among the eight presidential candidates, he is uniquely positioned to serve them best upon election, given his profound understanding of their plight.

Prior to reaching Kyarumba town council for the main event, Mafabi's convoy made strategic stopovers at Rugendabara, Kisinga, Kaberere, and Kinyamaseke Town Councils. At each stop, he was met by enthusiastic crowds who sang praises and danced for him, as he urged them to cast their votes for all FDC candidates vying for various positions.
