The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) officially launched its presidential campaigns today in Uganda's Lango sub-region, with candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi and party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi touring Amolatar and Dokolo districts.

The FDC leadership urged voters to back their bid for change, while also expressing strong disapproval over the exclusion of Uganda People's Congress (UPC) presidential candidate Jimmy Akena from the race.

The campaign trail saw Mafabi and Amuriat address enthusiastic crowds at various locations, including Namasele Primary School, Amolatar Town Council, Awelo, Kangai, and Cwagwere. The day culminated in a main rally held in Dokolo town, where the party reiterated its message of hope and transformation. A significant moment in Amolatar Town Council included a ritual blessing for presidential candidate Mafabi, symbolizing local endorsement and spiritual support.

During their addresses, FDC leaders voiced deep disappointment regarding the disqualification of UPC presidential candidate Jimmy Akena, attributing it to alleged government interference. The Lango sub-region holds Akena in high regard, viewing him as a direct symbol and inheritor of his late father, Dr. Milton Obote's, profound political legacy.

Leveraging the strong historical ties of the region, Mr. Mafabi underscored his personal connection to Lango, proudly stating that he attended Busoga College Mwiri – the very institution where the late former President Dr. Milton Obote also studied. He further emphasized his suitability for the nation's top office, citing his long-held commitment to the ideologies historically associated with the UPC and his unwavering dedication to improving the lives of all Ugandans.

FDC Party President Patrick Amuriat Oboi strongly echoed Mafabi's sentiments, confidently presenting him as the most capable candidate to lead Uganda out of its current challenges of poverty and suffering. The duo jointly outlined key tenets of their party's manifesto, promising a rigorous campaign to recover stolen public funds, which they pledged to redirect towards enhancing vital sectors such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development, alongside a commitment to reduce taxes for citizens.

As the general elections draw closer, the FDC leadership appealed to the people of Lango to throw their full weight behind Nathan Nandala Mafabi, promising a government dedicated to transparency and public welfare.
