The Director, Communication & Public Affairs at Parliament Chris Obore has revealed the arrest of two men after a trailer they were traveling in nearly knocked the speaker of Parliament Anita Among’s car on Saturday.
In a brief statement on his X account, Obore revealed that the driver of the trailer and his co driver were arrested to help police investigations after Speaker Among’s car survived being hit by their trailer in Mukono district.
“Speaker Anita Among’s car survived being hit by a Trailer this evening at 5:45pm in Mukono. She was returning to Kampala from Bugweri District where as Second Vice Chair NRM (Female), she campaigned for President Museveni” Obore wrote.
Obore noted that it was speaker Anita’s driver’s quick instincts behind the wheel that enabled him swerve the car to the side and avoid being hit by the trailer that was heading towards the Jinja city direction.
“The trailer driver was going towards Jinja. He swerved towards the Speaker’s car after some vehicles in the convoy had passed. The Speaker’s driver moved to the edge of the road” Obore said.
He added, “Police in Mukono have detained one Lubega Ivan, 32, the trailer driver & one Waiswa Amis the co-driver, to help with investigations”.
There haven’t been any reports of injuries to any of the speaker’s team after the incident.
