The Akaliait Development Foundation (AKADEF) has earned widespread praise, particularly from women in the Teso Sub-region, for its dedicated efforts in improving community health ahead of its official launch.

Scheduled for October 25th at Emokori Grounds in Bukedea District, the Foundation’s road to inauguration has been marked by life-saving medical camps across several districts in Eastern Uganda.

According to Stephen Ojacor, the Information Minister for the Iteso Cultural Union (ICU), the health outreach programs are part of AKADEF’s strategy to extend essential healthcare services to the grassroots through strong partnership engagements.

“The health camp in Katakwi is ongoing, with 1,301 patients already registered. This is a joint initiative between AKADEF and the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda,” Ojacor confirmed.

The ongoing health camps are being conducted in Mukuju Sub-county (Tororo District), Kachumbala Health Center IV (Bukedea District), Princess Diana Health Center IV (Soroti City), and Katakwi Hospital (Katakwi District).

The partnership with Her Excellency the Vice President, Jessica Rose Epel Alupo, has had a notable impact, particularly in Katakwi, where over 1,300 patients were attended to in a single day.

Her Royal Majesty Toto Akaliait Juliet Among, the founder of AKADEF, stated that the Foundation’s primary health targets include cervical and prostate cancer, breast cancer, malaria, hypertension, diabetes, and other common ailments affecting communities in the region.

She further expressed gratitude to the Vice President for her unwavering support and commitment toward improving community health.

Reports indicate that more than 8,000 people have benefited from the ongoing health camps across the four venues.

As the official launch of AKADEF draws near, several dignitaries are expected to grace the event, which will coincide with the 3rd Coronation Anniversary of His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor III Paul Sande Etomeileng Emolot.

The celebrations are expected to feature cultural displays, entertainment, and community engagement activities celebrating the spirit of development and unity across Teso.
