The Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) has officially launched an Education Fund aimed at supporting the education of children from less privileged families across the Teso sub-region. The initiative was unveiled during the third coronation anniversary celebrations of His Highness Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng, the Emorimor of the Iteso.
In his speech, Emorimor Emolot expressed concern over the increasing number of school dropouts in Teso due to financial hardships faced by many families. He emphasized that education remains a cornerstone for community transformation and the foundation for a prosperous future. “The joy and pride of every Teso family come when our children are educated and learned,” he stated.
The Education Fund, according to the Emorimor, will help reduce school dropouts and create equal learning opportunities for all children regardless of background.
The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, who represented President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the chief guest, commended the Iteso Cultural Union for prioritizing education and development. She praised the Emorimor’s vision and pledged continued government support for such cultural and developmental initiatives.
Speaker Among also made a generous contribution of UGX 50 million towards the Education Fund, affirming her commitment to uplifting the education standards and empowering the youth of Teso.
