Soroti City East Division has entered a heated political atmosphere as senior NRM leaders and flagbearers officially declared their full support for Isaac Orego, the NRM parliamentary candidate for the area, during the launch of his campaign. The event attracted a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters, signaling renewed energy and unity within the ruling party ahead of the upcoming elections.

In his campaign launch speech, Orego outlined his development priorities focusing on education, infrastructure, and economic empowerment. He pledged to engage the government to increase the number of students admitted to Soroti University on government sponsorship, stressing that education is the backbone of development. Orego noted that many bright students miss opportunities to join university due to limited government slots, something he aims to change if elected.

He also promised to empower women through savings groups and SACCOs to enhance family incomes and enable parents to educate their children. According to Orego, women are central to household progress and must be supported to achieve economic independence.

Orego further vowed to address the poor road conditions in Soroti City East and ensure electricity is extended to schools and households. He said that improved infrastructure and access to power will stimulate trade, promote education, and attract investment to the city.

Vincent Enomu, the NRM Chairperson for Soroti City, urged party members to unite behind Orego, saying it was time to reclaim Soroti City East from opposition control. “Let us put all our votes to Isaac Orego. Soroti City has been dominated by the opposition for too long, and now it’s time for change,” Enomu declared.

Otim Peter, the NRM Chairperson for Madera Ward, described Orego’s candidature as a blessing and urged supporters to remain united. “This is a blessing for us to have Isaac Orego. Let’s stop disunity and send him to Parliament,” he said.

The campaign launch marked a strong show of unity among NRM leaders and supporters, setting the stage for a highly charged political contest in Soroti City East.
