Campaigns for the 2026 general elections continued to gather pace in Soroti City East as NRM parliamentary flag bearer Isaac Orego stepped up his outreach in Campswahili Ward. Addressing an energized crowd, Orego outlined a development-focused agenda anchored on youth empowerment, community security, and accountable leadership.
As the Nrm party call upon the people to , “Protecting the Gains,” Orego pledged to champion the creation of youth hubs aimed at equipping young people with employable skills, business opportunities, and greater access to support services. He emphasized that the youth must remain central to the region’s development agenda, noting that the proposed hubs would help combat unemployment and prepare the young generation for a more competitive future.
Orego also highlighted security as a core priority, revealing plans to extend electricity to areas of the constituency that remain poorly lit and vulnerable to crime. He explained that improved lighting is essential in curbing night-time theft and enhancing overall community safety. Cautioning voters against what he termed “costly electoral mistakes,” he urged residents to make informed choices that would not set back progress for another five years. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that government programs, particularly the Parish Development Model, reach intended beneficiaries without obstruction.
The event also drew the attention of Soroti City Woman MP Candidate Sarah Inachu, a resident of Campswahili, who voiced concern over the rising insecurity in the ward. She promised to prioritize safety and strengthen coordination with security agencies if elected, stressing that stable communities are crucial for meaningful development.
Prominent NRM mobilizer Teddy Acham used the gathering to encourage voters to support leaders driven by integrity and commitment to public service rather than temporary handouts. Acham called on residents to stand firmly behind the President and candidates dedicated to improving livelihoods and safeguarding the gains made under the ruling government.
As the 2026 campaigns intensify, Soroti City East continues to emerge as a focal point where issues of youth empowerment, security, and credible leadership are shaping the political landscape and influencing voter sentiment.
