Soroti City – David Calvin Echodu, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Soroti City West, called on residents to prioritize development over tribal politics during a campaign rally held today at Agama Primary School in Agama Ward.
Speaking to a gathering of supporters, Echodu underscored the need for leadership that addresses the pressing challenges facing the community. He highlighted inadequate infrastructure, limited access to healthcare, and gaps in the education sector as key issues requiring immediate attention. He urged voters to support leaders who have the capacity and commitment to deliver tangible improvements in these areas.
Echodu stressed that the community must resist the influence of political lies and divisive rhetoric, emphasizing the importance of issue-based politics over ethnic affiliations. “Our people deserve leaders who can deliver services and address development challenges, not leaders who spread falsehoods and exploit tribal sentiments,” he said.
The political contest in Soroti City West has intensified as Echodu campaigns vigorously across the division. He faces off against incumbent MP Jonathan Ebwalu, who is contesting under the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), alongside several other candidates. Echodu’s campaign emphasizes accountability, development, and community-focused governance as central pillars of his platform.
As the elections approach, Echodu’s message to the electorate is clear: the future of Soroti City West should be shaped by leaders committed to progress, practical solutions, and unity rather than division and falsehoods.
