Leaders in Amuria District have commended residents for maintaining peace, unity, and discipline as the year comes to an end, describing the calm environment as a strong foundation for sustained development in the district and the wider Teso sub-region.
In a year-end address to citizens of Amuria and the people of Teso, the leadership praised the cooperation shown by the community, noting that it has played a key role in preserving stability and enabling government programs to take root. Residents were urged to continue safeguarding peace as the district prepares to enter a new political season.
The address emphasized the importance of protecting government initiatives such as the Parish Development Model and EMYOOGA, which are aimed at lifting households out of poverty. Leaders cautioned against the misuse of public resources, stressing that these programs are meant to benefit communities and not individuals. They warned that acts of corruption, sabotage, or abuse of government support programs would not be tolerated as the country approaches the 2026 general elections.
As political activities begin to intensify, citizens were encouraged to reject violence, tribalism, and misinformation. The leadership underscored that true leadership is rooted in service, accountability, and unity, rather than division, adding that the strength of the Teso sub-region lies in stability, hard work, and collective progress.
The youth were called upon to participate responsibly in politics and development initiatives, while farmers were encouraged to continue embracing government support programs to improve agricultural productivity and household incomes.
Speaking on behalf of the President and the Government of Uganda, assurances were given of continued security and commitment to the welfare of the people. Residents were also reminded to listen to the President’s End of Year Message, scheduled to be broadcast at 8:00 p.m. on all radio stations.
The address concluded with a call to the people of Teso to protect development gains achieved over the years and with wishes for a peaceful festive season and a prosperous new year.
