Soroti City Mayor-elect Francis Esudu Obwonyo has acknowledged that the responsibilities of leading the city are more demanding than he initially anticipated, even before his official swearing-in.
 
 
Speaking during an interview with Tbs break fast show , Esudu admitted that he once believed the mayoral position would be relatively manageable. However, the reality of the office has quickly set in as he begins to engage with stakeholders across the city before swearing in
 
 
 
“I thought being a mayor is easy, but it is not,” Esudu said, noting that he has already started receiving numerous calls from different stakeholders raising concerns and expectations ahead of his inauguration.
 
 
The mayor-elect explained that the wide range of issues being presented from service delivery to infrastructure and urban planning has highlighted the magnitude of the task before him. He emphasized that Soroti City has significant development needs that require careful planning, consultation, and collaboration.
 
 
Esudu pledged to work within the framework approved by the current council while also reviewing priority areas to ensure they reflect the most pressing needs of residents. He stressed the importance of inclusive leadership and continuous engagement with stakeholders.
 
 
As he prepares to assume office, Esudu said he remains committed to steering Soroti City toward sustainable growth and improved service delivery despite the mounting pressure.
