Police in Kireka have arrested a woman believed to be the central figure in the killing of Moses Omaido, a senior human resource officer attached to the Local Government Finance Commission, following a violent incident in Mbalwa, Kira Municipality last week.

The suspect, identified as Aliya Nakimera, was picked up from Mityana District where she had reportedly fled after the fatal attack. Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the development, stating that she is currently in custody and will face charges once investigations are complete.

Nakimera is said to have previously been in a relationship with the deceased. Her arrest adds a new layer to the case, which had already seen the detention of Agadi Oliver, Omaido’s girlfriend at the time, who was questioned to help police reconstruct the events leading to his death.

According to police accounts, the incident was preceded by a tense night in which both Nakimera and Agadi were present at Omaido’s residence. What began as a personal dispute is believed to have escalated dramatically the following morning.

Investigators say that on March 26, Omaido was preparing to leave for work when a disagreement broke out. Nakimera allegedly tried to prevent him from leaving, triggering a confrontation that turned violent.

Agadi, in her statement, said she had stepped into the bathroom during the altercation and did not directly witness the stabbing. However, upon returning, she reportedly found traces of blood in the bedroom, with both Omaido and Nakimera gone.

The victim’s body was later discovered along a path near his home, bearing a fatal stab wound to the lower neck area. The scene pointed to a violent struggle shortly before his death.

Omaido was widely regarded as a dedicated public servant, serving as Principal Human Resource Officer at the Local Government Finance Commission. Over the course of his career, he also worked with district local governments in Ngora and Oyam, and held positions at the Uganda National Bureau of Standards as well as the Uganda National Meteorological Authority.

Police say investigations remain ongoing as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
