The Akaliait Development Foundation (AKADEF) has taken a significant step toward transforming livelihoods in the Teso sub-region following a high-level engagement with the management of Centenary Bank Soroti Branch, in a meeting that signaled the dawn of a promising partnership focused on community empowerment.

The meeting, spearheaded by Branch Manager Mr. Osilo Charles and Relationship Officer Miss Phiona Mpora, brought together key stakeholders committed to exploring sustainable development pathways for the people of Teso. While specific details of the partnership are yet to be unveiled, both parties described the engagement as fruitful and forward-looking, with a shared vision of driving socio-economic transformation through innovative interventions.

At the heart of the discussions was a mutual commitment to strengthening financial inclusion, supporting grassroots initiatives, and empowering vulnerable communities through tailored programs. The partnership is expected to unlock new opportunities for local entrepreneurs, youth, and women, groups that remain central to AKADEF’s mission of inclusive development.

Speaking after the meeting, Her Royal Majesty Toto Juliet Among Akaliait, a revered cultural leader and champion of community development, applauded Centenary Bank for its unwavering commitment to delivering accessible and people-centered financial services across the region.

She emphasized that such collaborations are critical in addressing the challenges facing rural communities, particularly in areas of financial literacy, access to credit, and economic resilience.

“This partnership reflects a shared vision of uplifting our people,” she noted. “When institutions like Centenary Bank work hand in hand with community-driven organizations such as AKADEF, the impact is not only meaningful but also sustainable.”

Mr. Osilo Charles reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to fostering impactful partnerships that go beyond traditional banking. He highlighted the institution’s readiness to work closely with AKADEF and the Iteso Cultural Union to design programs that respond directly to the needs of the people.

“We are committed to supporting initiatives that create real change in communities,” he said. “Our collaboration with AKADEF is a testament to our belief in partnerships that empower individuals and strengthen local economies.”

In a symbolic gesture that underscored the cultural depth of the engagement, Toto Juliet Among bestowed blessings upon the Centenary Bank team. Miss Phiona Mpora was honored with a new cultural name, “Arereng,” given by Toto Akaliait, a name she warmly embraced after learning its meaning. The moment reflected the strong cultural ties and mutual respect that characterized the meeting, further cementing the bond between the two institutions.

The engagement marks a pivotal moment for AKADEF as it continues to position itself as a leading force in community transformation within Teso. By aligning with key financial institutions, the foundation is strengthening its capacity to deliver impactful programs that address pressing socio-economic challenges.

As anticipation builds around the formal rollout of the partnership initiatives, stakeholders remain optimistic that this collaboration will usher in a new era of opportunity, resilience, and prosperity for the people of Teso.
