SOROTI - Police in Soroti City are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a young man who reportedly fell from the third floor of Soroti Main Market on the evening of April 9, 2026. The deceased has been identified as Okiring Mark, believed to be around 20 years old.
According to Ibrahim Saiga, the East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, the incident occurred at approximately 7:40 PM.
Preliminary reports indicate that the young man allegedly fell from the upper level of the busy market under unclear circumstances, raising concern among traders and residents who witnessed the aftermath. He was rushed to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital for emergency medical attention but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the incident, including whether it was accidental or intentional.
Authorities have urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with investigators by providing any relevant information that could aid the inquiry.
