Popular Teso comedian Julius Opado, widely known as RCC Dolopiko, has sparked political debate after publicly distancing himself from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and declaring support for opposition leader Bobi Wine.
Dolopiko made the remarks through a strongly worded Facebook post while commenting on the ongoing controversy surrounding former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.
In his statement, the comedian accused the ruling establishment of turning against Among after allegedly benefiting from her political influence. He also criticized Uganda’s anti-corruption efforts, claiming that corruption within the country had reached alarming levels.
“They have used Anita as shoe polish, and now they call her a thug. Corruption in Uganda is beyond anti-corruption. Where the corrupt fight corruption is abnormal,” Dolopiko wrote.
The comedian further stated that he would no longer support the NRM, popularly associated with the yellow party color, and openly endorsed National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Bobi Wine.
Dolopiko’s comments come amid increasing public discussion surrounding Anita Among, who has recently faced mounting scrutiny over corruption allegations and political pressure within ruling party circles.
Over the past months, Among has remained at the center of investigations and public criticism linked to alleged misuse of public resources and unexplained wealth. The situation has generated mixed reactions from political leaders, supporters, and critics across the country.
The former Speaker has also faced international sanctions from Western countries over corruption-related allegations, adding further pressure to her political career.
Meanwhile, Dolopiko’s remarks have continued to circulate widely on social media, with many Ugandans debating his sudden political shift and outspoken criticism of the government.
Political analysts say statements from influential entertainers and public figures increasingly reflect growing public frustration over governance, corruption, and the country’s future political direction ahead of the coming elections.
The comedian also referenced concerns over the possible future leadership ambitions of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of President Yoweri Museveni, a topic that continues to attract national attention within Uganda’s political landscape.
